Naše exkurze do Londýna

Naši žáči tráví tři noci u hostitelské rodiny v Londýně, jedí tradiční jídla, mohou si otestovat svou angličtinu a sami vidí, jak žijí Londýňané.

Vyvrcholením letošní exkurze byla především prohlídka windsorského zámku, univerzitního města Eton a návštěva muzikálu „Mama Mia“ nebo „Lion King“. Přečtete si zprávy a dojmy žáků v anglickém jazyce.

Září – nejlepší čas k cestě do Londýna!

Zprávy o našem pobytu v anglickém jazyce:

Monday

We arrived at 7 o’clock in the morning in Calais and took the ferry-boat to Dover, where we visited Dover Castle. The weather was cold, cloudy and stormy. First we had some time to discover the castle on our own, later we had a guide through the underground hospital, which was arranged and used during the Second World War. Fascinating was not just the simple equipment, the noises and the flare light, the smell of freshly made lunch in the kitchen was also very impressing. After that we went to Cante rbury, a little town maybe as big as Pirna, and visited a museum, the “Canterbury Tales”. We got an audio guide and watched the coulisses, in front of that we listened to the stories from the guide. After that we had some free time to eat lunch, go shoppin g, see the town or to enjoy the sunshine. At the end of the day we arrived, tired and exhausted, in London and met our host families.

Tuesday

13th of September
The third day of our trip to London began early in the morning. We got up at 6 o'clock, because we had a strict timetable that day. We ate breakfast, which consisted of cornflakes, milk and orange juice. Then we took our two packed lunches. It was two of them that day, because we didn't come home before 11 o'clock at night. And off went to our coach. The bus hit the road at 8 AM. It was a long, and hard journey for the busdriver, I guess. According to the fact that it isn't easy to drive on the left carriageway if you aren't used to do so. Moreover, London is one of the biggest commuter towns of the world. St Paul's Cathedral was the first point on our timetable. We reached it after we took the tube. Due to the amazing weather we had an impressive view from the top of the church. You could see the whole city, the river Thames, the London Eye, Big Ben and the ouses of Parliament. But also the inside of the cathedral was greatly stunning. A real pearl of architecture. All those famous places we saw some hours later from the inside of our coach during a 2-hour lasting sightseeing tour. We were lucky, because it only rained while we were sitting on the bus or the tube. After some spare time we had spent shopping or looking around, we met at Piccadilly Circus at 7 PM. (Those who had chosen "Lion King“ as the musical they want to see didn't do so) We entered the musical theatre "Mamma Mia“ at about 7:30. After I had decided to go to that musical, and not to "Lion King", as some others did, I was wondering, whether I had made the right choice. However the musical was pretty good and we enjoyed it. After the performance we first took the tube and then the coach to get back to our host families. We arrived in New Eltham at about 11 o'clock.

Wednesday

On Wednesday we first went to Eton and we visited Eton College which is a very expensive private school for boys only. It was very interesting to see what these students look like. Their school uniform consists of a black tailcoat and waistcoat, a false-collar and pinstriped trousers. Most of the students wear a white tie but some senior boys wear a white bow tie and winged collar. After visiting Eton we walked to Windsor Castle and explored it with an audio guide. Windsor Castle was very impressive because of the big rooms and the gold. Also the terrain of it was very impressive because it was very big. After Windsor Castle we had some spare time to visit the village of Windsor. We spent the rest of the day in our host families.

Thursday

At first, we (Anne, Linda, Viviane) had breakfast with our host brother- Cornflakes and tea with milk. Then we drove to our meeting point with our host mum by car. Meeting was 8 am. Afterwards we drove to Greenwich by bus. From Greenwich to the Tower of London we took the train. There we went to the Tower. We saw the Crown Jewels and the ravens which protect the Tower and United Kingdom. We visit also the White Tower.
After two hours there we met next to the Tower and took some group pictures. Then we took the tube to Madam Tussaud’s and visited it. It was really amazing and there were lot’s of people. Afterwards we had free time. Most of us went to Oxford Street for shopping. Finally we drove back to Greenwich and went to the zero meridian and then to the bus. Henceforth our return journey began. At midnight we took the ferry from Dover to Calais. Outside it was really cold. That was the reason why we stayed inside. All in all it was a good travel with lot’s of fun. I like London.
