Christmas in a Shoe Box

Between October 21 and December 15, 2016, grades 8/2 and 8/4 were working at the project ‘Christmas in a shoebox’.

WHAT IS CHRISTMAS IN A SHOEBOX?

It is a gift campaign for neglected children. For many of them it will be the first present in their life. The gifts are sent to children in war zones and other regions on the basis of Europe-wide actions. However, we decided to give our presents to the family center “Tafel” at Tischerplatz in Pirna.

PREPARATIONS

We started to get prepared on October 21. We looked for information on the topic ’Christmas in a shoebox’. We made posters and flyers for the school. On November 3 and 4, we visited all the grades from our school to advertise our project. We also organized a bake sale to establish a financial basis for the project.

On November 10, our bake sale took place. We would like to thank everyone who bought something and thus contributed to the final sum of 150 Euros. We used the money to buy presents for the children in need.

On November 25 and on December 2, we packed all the small gifts in differently sized shoe boxes which we had nicely decorated. Altogether, we had 28 presents, among them 22 from students of our profile course and 6 from other students, who we would like to say thanks again.

Aktion Schuhkarton

We visited the family center “Tafel”on December 8 and donated our gifts. It was very nice for us to see how the people enjoyed their presents and to learn how this project had evolved.

All in all, it was a great and rewarding experience for us. We would like to thank our teacher Ms. Vrabel, who supported us and made all of this possible.
