Our Student Exchange in Prague

Before the Easter break, from 30 March to 1 April, we (grade 6/4) went on a really nice student exchange in Prague. About a year ago children had been visiting us who we had gotten in touch with before by writing letters. All of them had brought along a nice gift for their host families.

Before we could meet the Czech students and their families, we still had a lot of things to do. We, i. e. the German children, met early in the morning, at 7:30, at the station. It was hard to say goodbye to our parents. Our train was supposed to leave at 7:51 but the train was late. So we had to wait for 45 minutes and then take the next train. When we finally arrived, we received a warm welcome. The we went to the Czech students’ school. First we had lunch in the canteen. Then we went into the school and talked about the schedule for Tuesday, which was followed by a small snack. At 3 o’clock the children’s parents picked us up and everybody’s individual afternoon program started. On the second day we went to Prague Castle. We interviewed tourists and it was very funny to ask them if they spoke German. After that we were allowed to go to a huge shopping center for 30 minutes. Then we went back to the school by tram where our host families met us to spend the afternoon with us again.

The third day was the day to say goodbye. We met at school and we had brought all the photos we had taken the day before. We went into the classrooms and each group made a poster with our photos and the written interviews. This really was a lot of fun. Then we went to the canteen to have lunch. After that we went to the station where we said goodbye to our hosts. We arrived in Pirna at 3.30 pm where we met our families.
