A Cajón from Donations

The school’s promotion association would like to thank the company "Tischlerei und Küchenstudio Eisold" in Dürrröhrsdorf for their donation to a musical project thanks to which the school was able to afford a cajón. The cajón can be used in a variety of ways and has been very well received by the students as the following report shows.

“Take a Walk for the Wild“

We’ll be involved again: 211 students and 16 adults are going to take part in the wilderness run “Take a Walk for the Wild“ in Dresden on 27 March 2015. Every participant is supposed to find a sponsor who is going to pay a predetermined amount of money per lap to the “Wilderness International” foundation.

Particle Physicist for a Day

On 6 March 2015, four students from the course ‘New Physics in English’ took part in the ‘Hands on Particle Physics Masterclasses’, which were hosted by the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics at TU Dresden.

Visit of the Consul General of the Czech Republic

On 25 February 2015, Dr. Jiří Kuděla the Czech Consul General and other guests visited Friedrich Schiller Gymnasium. He greeted the students who are taking part in the upcoming journey to Prague, which has not only been a long tradition for years but has always been organized by the Czech Consulate General in Dresden for the best students in our bilingual profile.

Our meeting with the graduates of 2014

On Monday, 5 January 2015, we met our former schoolmates to listen to their reports about university life a year after they had left school. While they were taking their seats, Ms. Pokorná was still bustling about offering homemade strudel to everyone, for which she had spent the entire afternoon in the kitchen. Finally, the meeting could begin and our former twelfth-graders, one after another, told us about their joys and sorrows of everyday life in their new environment.

Our Student Exchange in Prague

Before the Easter break, from 30 March to 1 April, we (grade 6/4) went on a really nice student exchange in Prague. About a year ago children had been visiting us who we had gotten in touch with before by writing letters. All of them had brought along a nice gift for their host families.

Trip to Remscheid 2015

From 8 to 11 May 2015, a delegation of the student council went on a visit to Röntgengymnasium in Remscheid-Lennep. As part of an exchange with our twin city we shared many impressive moments and therefore created a solid basis for the revitalization of the student exchange between schools in Pirna and Remscheid.

Project “Sandstone Reliefs”

During the last school year, we (class 9/3) took part in the project “Sandstone Reliefs”. This project was organized by Ms Protze and Ms Stoebe, whose names are closely connected with the Cultural Summer and the Galerie am Plan Project. All of our Czech and German classmates visited Decin in May.

After a long break due to a lack of enthusiasm, the wait is finally over: twenty Czech students, Ms Zdražilová und Mr Wilhelm were ready to worthily represent our school at the Pirna dragon boat race.

Fourth Saxon Bohemiade in Ostritz

On 24 and 25 September, the 4th Saxon Bohemiade was held in Ostritz near the Polish border. Liesa (9/3), Elisabeth (9/3), Nicole (9/3), Jenny (8/3), Sophie (8/3), Hanna (7/3), Hannah (7/3), Lucy (7/3), Jacob (6/3), Caroline (10/5), Christin (10/5) and Eileen (10/5) from our school took part.
